Deni High Year 12 Career Expo Excursion 2008

36 Year 12 students and 3 staff Ms Sinha, Scotty and Laing plus Kate Pitt(Youth Career Services) headed off to Bendigo and Melbourne. After a 6.30 am start we enjoyed our tour of La Trobe Uni and BRIT in Bendigo and then we boarded the bus again to travel to our Hotel in South Yarra.

After unpacking the group split into three groups to go to Melbourne Uni, RMIT , Monash and NMIT. We braved buses, trains and trams sometimes accidentally heading in the wrong direction before jumping off and catching the right one. At tea time half the group dined at the Crown Food Court while the rest enjoyed a three course meal at the Sofitel.

The next morning we caught public transport out to Deakin campus at
Burwood and the Box Hill Tafe. Lunch was a rushed affair at the DFO Food Court and then we hot footed it down to the Exhibition Building to peruse the National Careers Expo.

After talking to many different career contacts and filling our bags with freebies we headed out to La Trobe Bundoora Campus before heading home. The students were excellent ambassadors for Deniliquin High School and gained lots of valuable information about University and Tafe education as well as navigating around cities in peak hour.
