MARCH 2008
Girl Savvy Day – Coomealla High School
On Wednesday 12 March, “Girl Savvy” came to the Coomealla Memorial Club to run a full day workshop for Coomealla High School’s Year 10 and 11 girls. GirlSavvy is a project delivering workshops throughout NSW, to groups of between 50 and 80 girls aged 14 to 24 years old, with a primary focus on high school aged girls.
The workshop program inspires, motivates and educates young women about the importance of being economically empowered and financially independent. A range of activities broadly aims to boost self esteem, inspire young women about the diversity of job options available and focus on the benefits of good financial planning.
Business women from the our community helped out on the day by being mentors and leading the activities which involved planning g to be financially independent, budgeting, preparing for an interview, designing a product with a business plan to market this product.
It was a fun day with a variety of activities that our girls enjoyed and may assist them in their planning for the future.
A big thankyou to the two services that made the day possible in assisting with funding-CAP(NSW Country Area Program) and Youth Career Services (our Local Community Partnership which gives us support for Career and Transition activities)
