Record Number of Employers invited to Nominate Students
The nominations for Berrigan Shire and Youth Career Services Work Placement Student of the Year Award opened this week, with a record number of employers being asked to reflect on the VET students who completed work placement with their business during 2007. 37 employers within the Shire area have placed 52 VET students.
Students undertook placements with a range of businesses in Finley, Tocumwal, Berrigan and surrounding rural areas while completing VET courses in Hospitality, Primary Industries, Business Services and Metals and Engineering.
Employers may nominate students if the student demonstrated outstanding commitment to learning on the job, good personal and communication skills, showed ability in the industry field and willingly undertook tasks assigned. Each employer is able to include additional comments which they feel would assist the judges with the process of short-listing candidates.
Three finalists, their employer and parents will be invited to attend the annual awards night at Barooga Sports Club on Wednesday 16 April. 2008. This award is supported by Berrigan Shire Council and sponsored by Youth Career Services (formerly Southern Riverina Plains Local Community Partnership).
