The Australian Government is working to improve the standards of career development services—including career education in schools—and the standing of career teachers.
This is achieved through:
- initiatives that promote career development in schools and encourage the wider engagement of schools, business, industry, parents and community groups in quality career development activities
- the professional development of career practitioners and teachers, and other intermediaries
- career information products and services.
The following initiatives have been funded through Career Advice Australia:
- National Standards for Career Development Practitioners
- Australian Career Development Studies
- School and Industry Leaders’ Forums
- Scholarships for School Career Advisers
- Career Education Lighthouse Schools Project.
These initiatives work cooperatively and are supported by:
- National Career Development Week
- Enterprise Learning for the 21st Century
- Australian Blueprint for Career Development.
