The Australian Government is working to improve the standards of career development services—including career education in schools—and the standing of career teachers.

 

This is achieved through:

 

• initiatives that promote career development in schools and encourage the wider engagement of schools, business, industry, parents and community groups in quality career development activities
• the professional development of career practitioners and teachers, and other intermediaries
• career information products and services.
  

 

The following initiatives have been funded through Career Advice Australia:

 

• National Standards for Career Development Practitioners
• Australian Career Development Studies
• School and Industry Leaders’ Forums
• Scholarships for School Career Advisers
• Career Education Lighthouse Schools Project.

 

These initiatives work cooperatively and are supported by:

 

• National Career Development Week
• Enterprise Learning for the 21st Century
• Australian Blueprint for Career Development.
